It appears that a fast food giant has abruptly closed one of its longest-standing restaurants in the North East of Britain.

Since opening on the corner of Dee Street and Union Street in Aberdeen, Burger King has served their signature Whopper meals, to the people of The Granite City, for over 40 years.

The restaurant has been a staple of Europe's Oil Capital from 1983 going through multiple refurbishments, and countless customers, over its four decades.

Property owning to Burger King was seen being loaded into storage vehicles at the outlet on Monday (29 September), others saw the Burger King branding signage boards being dismantled and ripped away from the building.

However, this was slightly postponed due to a fire in a flat above the restaurant late morning on Monday which had to be dealt with by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, it's unconfirmed at this stage if the blaze is connected with Burger King.

Today, Tuesday (30 September), construction workers in high-vis clothing were spotted inside, however it's unclear if they were doing maintenance, refurbishments, or in the process of extracting all the fixtures and fittings so the shop space can be sold to another buyer, or leased out to new tenants.

It would seem the city with the Golden Sands has eaten its last Chicken Royale in the Town Centre.

The status of Aberdeen's first Burger King restaurant remains unclear.

Informing Britain has contacted the Canadian-owned-United-States-operated Fast Food chain for comment.

As of press time, no statement has been provided.
