The Terminally Ill Adults (End Of Life) Bill passed its third reading in the House Of Commons today, Friday 20 June 2025, with 314 votes in favour and 291 against, securing a majority of 23.

​The vote triggered a wave of emotion inside the Commons. As the result was announced, some Members Of Parliament were visibly moved, while others queued to shake hands with Kim Leadbeater who was the driving force behind the campaign.

Home Office Minister Jess Phillips was among those who paused to embrace the Spen Valley MP in a show of support.

​In the public gallery, campaigners who had championed the bill were seen wiping away tears, reflecting the weight of the moment.
