MURDER INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED AFTER BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA RULED AS CAUSE OF WOOLWICH WOMAN'S DEATH | INFORMING BRITAIN

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in south east London.

Metropolitan Police were called to a flat in Argyll Road (SE18 region) at approximately 17:25 on Friday 17 January 2025, following concerns for the welfare of the occupant.

Officers from the Charlton Police division gained entry to the property and found a woman, aged 43, who was deceased.

Her next of kin has been informed, however a spokesperson for Metropolitan Police have confirmed they are awaiting formal identification.

A post mortem held on Saturday 18 January gave cause of death as blunt force trauma and head injury.

DCI Suzanne Soren, Specialist Crime South, said:

"This is a deeply tragic incident and are thoughts are very much with the victim's family who are being supported by specialist officers."

DCI Soren, concluded:

"At this early stage we believe the suspect was known to the victim and we are carrying out urgent enquiries to trace a named individual."
