Detectives are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with information or footage, to come forward following a shooting in Dagenham.

Detective Inspector Iain Wallace of Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime Command, said:

"I am keen to hear from anyone who has information that could assist our investigation.
We believe that a black coloured Ford Fiesta was involved and are keen to hear from anyone who has information or footage concerning that vehicle."

DI Wallace reassures the public, saying:

"We are working hard to take illegal guns off the streets, but we can't achieve that alone.  If you have information about this incident, or anyone who has an illegal gun, please do get in touch and help us make your area safer."

At 13:06 on Wednesday 5 June 2024 officers were called to reports of a person shot in Porters Avenue, Dagenham.

Officers were assisted by London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance who attended the scene.

At the scene they found a 23-year-old man with a gunshot wound.

The man was taken to a local medical facility where his injuries were not life-threatening or life-changing.

Initial enquiries established that the shooting took place at Wren Road, Dagenham with the victim making his way to Porters Avenue, where Emergency Services were called.

An investigation was launched led by Trident detectives from Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime Command.

At this early stage there have been no arrests.

Local residents will notice an enhanced police presence in the area to provide reassurance.

Investigators are asking people with information to call Barking and Dagenham Police on 101, alternatively those with details can do so on 𝕏 by using @MetCC.

When giving your information, Metropolitan Police are asking the public to state Reference Log Number: 3628/5JUN.

If anybody wishes to provide details of this incident and remain anonymous, they can do so by contacting the independent charity CrimeStoppers on 0800555111 where conversations are done in strict confidence.
