A grim week lies ahead in Yorkshire Dales, with Charity Dingle's prison ordeal taking a darker turn, Sadie King's scheming reaching a dangerous pitch, and Joe Tate revealing a cold, calculated side as he prepares to bury Dawn Fletcher. Charity's situation inside grows increasingly bleak. A lockdown leads to a cell search in which officers find white powder. After a humiliating full-body search she suffers a PTSD-induced panic attack and is placed in segregation. Back in the village, Mackenzie Boyd tries and fails to pressure Serena Sugden into helping her. Chas Dingle then demands a family meeting, where she and Mackenzie lean hard on Sarah Sugden to change her statement. Mackenzie even threatens to expose Sarah's crimes and Leyla Sugden's paternity to Jacob. Cain Dingle backs Sarah and clashes with Mackenzie over his aggression. Eventually, Sarah breaks down and confesses everything to Jacob Gallagher. His reaction remains the great unknown. Meanwhile, Sadie is working a longer, colder game. She manipulates a grieving Nicola King into handing over her house keys, which she then passes to Robert Sugden for a burglary. Robert comes close to being caught inside Nicola's home but slips away. S Sadie keeps up the pretence of friendship at The Hide, where Gabby Thomas even covers their lunch bill. After Robert and Sadie fail to find any money they plan a trip to Whitby (Jimmy King's favourite place) in search of clues. Sadie is visibly rattled when she spots Cain. She also has a hostile run-in with Kim Tate that leaves Eric Pollard and Moira Dingle worried she has returned only to cause trouble. Later she visits Cain and demands the money he stole from her. He refuses to engage. Until she drops a bombshell. At Home Farm, Kim presses DS Ramsden for progress on the crash investigation. Joe, however, insists on a private funeral with no guests except himself, leaving Kim dismayed. Billy confronts him and is told, coldly, that neither he nor the children are invited. Devastated, Billy Fletcher later lashes out at a passing Ruby Fox-Miligan over her part in Dawn's death. Ruby then goes to Home Farm to plead for the children to be allowed to attend. Joe remains unmoved, rejecting her and warning that the conversation could turn ugly if she does not leave. After speaking with Clemmie Reed he relents and agrees that Billy and the children may come. Yet Joe tells Graham Foster he has not turned a corner.
He is planning retribution against those he holds responsible for Dawn's death and asks Graham for a favour. Emmerdale continues on ITV1 / STV / ITVX / STV Player.
