Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) endures a nightmare when left alone with Mal (Tim Treloar) in Roy's cafe.

​As Roy Cropper (David Neilson) heads to the bank, Mal locks the door and confesses his feelings, turning menacing when rejected, leaving Bernie terrified.

Later, when Tracy McDonald (Kate Ford) seeks an electrician for Ken Barlow, Roy praises Mal, but Bernie warns her off vehemently, baffling Roy.

​Bernie confronts Mal, threatening his life if he doesn't back off, but he dismisses her boldly.

The plot thickens as DC Browning enters to arrest Bernie for assault.

In her cell, son Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) hears her proclaim innocence.

Under questioning, Bernie claims a platonic night with Mal spiralled into stalking, but the question being, is her story credible?
