15/12/2021

Picture
Burn scars are the result of an accident from a fire or hot surface.
In appearance, they can be: depressed, raised, shiny, smooth or rough.
Darker than the natural skin pigmentation or completely void of colour.
Different colors as they heal, with reddish or bluish pigmentation.
Burn scars occur when burns damage the skin.
For burns that only affect the outer layers of the skin, the scar tissue fades over time.
When the deeper layers of the skin are damaged, it causes more permanent scarring that can have a thick, leathery, or irregular appearance.

EMMERDALE: OLIVIA FLAHERTY - ALCOHOL MISUSE

10/12/2021

Picture
Alcohol misuse is when you drink in a way that's harmful, or when you're dependent on alcohol.
To keep health risks from alcohol to a low level, both men and women are advised not to regularly drink more than 14 units a week.
People who binge drink (drink heavily over a short period of time) are more likely to behave recklessly and are at greater risk of being in an accident.
Alcoholism, now known as alcohol use disorder, is a condition in which a person has a desire or physical need to consume alcohol, even though it has a negative impact on their life.
ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS:
Picture
Alcoholics Anonymous are a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
Alcoholics Anonymous are concerned solely with the personal recovery and continued sobriety of individual alcoholics who turn to the fellowship for help.
Alcoholics Anonymous does not engage in the fields of alcoholism research, medical or psychiatric treatment, education, or advocacy in any form, although members may participate in such activities as individuals.
The Fellowship has adopted a policy of "cooperation but not affiliation" with other organisations concerned with the problem of alcoholism.
Traditionally, Alcoholics Anonymous does not accept or seek financial support from outside sources, and members preserve personal anonymity in print and broadcast media and otherwise at the public level.
Alcoholics Anonymous experience has always been made available freely to all who sought it - business people, spiritual leaders, civic groups, law enforcement officers, health and welfare personnel, educators, representatives of military establishments, institutional authorities, representatives of organised labour, and many others.
But Alcoholics Anonymous never endorses, supports, becomes affiliated with, or expresses an opinion on the programs of others in the field of alcoholism, since such actions would be beyond the scope of the Fellowship's primary purpose.
