Acid throwing, also called an acid attack, a vitriol attack or vitriolage, is a form of violent assault defined as the act of throwing acid or a similarly corrosive substance onto the body of another "with the intention to disfigure, maim, torture, or kill".

The Katie Piper Foundation’s aim is to have a world where scars do not limit a person’s function, social inclusion or sense of well being.
The Katie Piper Foundation's aims are to: improve outcomes for burns survivors / deliver – directly or indirectly – intensive, comprehensive burns rehabilitation (post acute care discharge) in the United Kingdom / support burns survivors throughout their recovery / progress a deep understanding of the context in which the Foundation acts (the burns care world) and of the key stakeholders / develop key relationships, collaborations associations and partnerships.
The survivors who engage with The Katie Piper Foundation's services are at the heart of what the charitable organisation do.  The Katie Piper Foundation learn from their experiences, ask for their expert feedback and they are all part of Team KPF.
The Katie Piper Foundation have a number of specialist volunteers who enable them to deliver services with impact and have the funds to make that possible.
The Katie Piper Foundation has a committed Board Of Trustees, all of whom are volunteers.
The Katie Piper Foundation's full time and part time staff members bring an abundance of experience to their roles.
All of The Katie Piper Foundation's successes are thanks to, in addition to their current team, all the volunteers, Trustees and staff members of the past.  Whilst The Katie Piper Foundation were establishing the direction of the charity and building their staff team expertise and resource, they have been honoured to have been steered and guided by professional voluntary advisors in areas of camouflage make-up, clinical psychology and scar management.

ACID SURVIVIORS TRUST INTERNATIONAL (ASTI):

Acid Survivors Trust International is a United Kingdom registered not-for-profit charity and the only international organisation whose sole purpose is to end acid violence at a global level.  Acid Survivors Trust International was founded in 2002 and has worked with a network of six local partners in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Uganda that it has helped to form.  Acid Survivors Trust International have helped provide medical expertise and training to our partners, conducted valuable evidence based research, raised valuable funds to support survivors of acid attacks and helped change laws.
Acid Survivors Trust International have partnered and received grants from the United Nations, The British Government and numerous Foundations on delivering medical, legal, awareness raising, advocacy, rehabilitation and livelihood projects in multiple countries including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Uganda and Cambodia.
Due to their expertise and knowledge ASTI’s advice was sought by the Colombian government in its efforts to end acid violence and support survivors in 2014 and 2015.

VICTIM SUPPORT:

Victim Support Scotland, or simply VSS, supports and campaigns on behalf of victims and witnesses of crime in Scotland.
Victim Support Scotland are proud to serve victims and witnesses in the north of Britain by campaigning for their rights and helping to improve their experiences of the criminal justice system.
Their aim is to supporting, both, the victims and witnesses of any form of crime.
Victim Support Scotland provides support and information services to victims and witnesses of crime north of the border.  Victim Support Scotland support 200,000 people affected by crime each year.  This support is provided by staff and volunteers in national and local offices and court-based services across Scotland.
Victim Support Scotland are an independent charity and not part of the Police Scotland or Scottish Courts.  All conversations with victims and witnesses are confidential and are not shared with people outside of Victim Support Scotland.
The service, provided by Victim Support Scotland, is completely free.
Victim Support Scotland's daily contact with victims and witnesses of crime gives the charity a unique insight into the issues that they face.  VSS campaign to ensure that the criminal justice system in Scotland takes full account of the needs of victims and witnesses of crime.
