Caitlin goes to desperate lengths to clear her name.
Bernie takes a very public stand against Scarlett.
DCI Grant makes a bold move against the Murdochs.
Seeing Ruby struggle with single parenthood, Caitlin longs to help. Realising time is running out for her to repair their damaged relationship, Caitlin focuses her energies on building the best legal case with lawyer Poppy. She soon discovers it comes at a hefty price and turns to Lenny for a loan.
Caitlin’s plans change after overhearing Ruby admit to Jac that she’s struggling to make ends meet. She decides to secretly gift the loan money to her daughter, enlisting Ellie’s help.
When Jac tells Ruby where the money really came from, Caitlin is further rejected by her daughter. She breaks down just as an electrical fire sparks from dodgy sockets in The Tall Ship - presenting Caitlin with an opportunity to make an insurance claim and pay off her debts. However, as the fire takes hold, little does Caitlin realise danger could prove life-threatening to Ruby and baby Joe.
Elsewhere, enraged by cutbacks threatening The Community Hub, Bernie confronts Scarlett and decides to stage a protest. As a crowd gathers Scarlett is humiliated when local journalist, Anthony Stevenson turns up, and Jessie starts a live blog testing her loyalties to the limit.
As Lenny plots DCI Rachel Grant’s downfall with Rory, Alex and Lou, he’s stunned when Grant bursts in and arrests Rory. She soon gives Lenny an ultimatum: confess to murdering Lydia or watch your son go to jail.
