CASUALTY CONFIRM TWO NEW CASTMATES FOR 35TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS | CASUALTY NEWS

Today, Thursday 20 May 2021, the BBC have confirmed two new regular cast members will be joining the longest-running, weekly, episodic medical drama in the World, a little later this year when Casualty celebrates its 35th anniversary on our television screens.

These new faces already have old friends in the Emergency Department.

Osi Okerafor's arrival will certainly be a spanner in the works for a Casualty fan favourite couple.  Osi's character, Matthew, is a locum registrar with a history of practicing medicine in the World’s trouble spots.  He holds a deep and enduring love for old flame Fenisha Khatri (Olivia D'Lima) who has just recently had a baby with Dr. Ethan Hardy (George Rainsford).

You might recognise Osi's face if you watched Death In Paradice, King Gary or Prisoners Wives.

A BBC insider has told me "Osi will appear on screen as Matthew later this month" which means Matthew will arrive on 29 May due to Casualty taking a weekend off for the Eurovision Song Contest finals from Rotterdam, Netherlands this coming Saturday (22 May).

Osi Okerafor, says:

"It's a pleasure to become a part of the Casualty team.  Everyone here is so genuinely friendly and it's a very exciting environment to work in.  I'm excited for viewers to see Matthew's love for his patients and his willingness to do whatever it takes to care for them; it's a quality I really admire in him."

But, that's not the only new addition to the Holby City Emergency Department because later in the year, Casualty will be celebrating it’s 35th anniversary of being on our television screens with some special episodes.

Elinor Lawless will be joining the stellar cast as Stevie Nash, a new consultant who audiences will meet during these episodes.  Jam-packed with explosive drama, audiences can expect to not only meet new characters, but also be reunited with one or two old faces as well.

Elinor has already been in Casualty back in 2019 as Hollie Summer so it's safe to say Elinor knows her way around the department.  She has also appeared in six episodes of EastEnders.

Elinor Lawless, says:

"I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the wonderful cast of Casualty!  Stevie Nash is certainly a force to be reckoned with and looks set to ruffle a few feathers in the Holby ED!"

Loretta Preece, Series Producer of Casualty for the BBC, pridefully talks about her team's new recruits and has given an in-depth statement about all things Osi & Elinor.

Loretta Preece, says:

"I am delighted that Osi and Elinor will be joining the Casualty family.  As an actor, Osi has it all; he's handsome and debonair, sensitive and steadfast, passionate and unpredictable.  Osi has been delightful to work with and he and Olivia have a very special on screen bond.  With Osi's beautifully layered performance we slowly reveal some deep undercurrents - he is far more than a classic romantic leading man.  Eli is an exceptional actress and a force of nature.  With Stevie, Eli brings a new and dangerous energy into our world – she's charismatic, contemporary, compelling and on occasion very unsettling.  Her wonderful character and additive backstory is an exciting part of defining a new and exciting era for Casualty as we go into our 35th year."

Casualty returns to BBC television Saturday 29 May 2021.

CASUALTY RETURNS TO FILMING AFTER COVID-19 BREAK IN PRODUCTION | CASUALTY

7/9/2020

Picture
Filming has resumed on BBC One’s popular medical drama Casualty with one of its most powerful episodes to date, showing these extraordinary times through the lens of the Emergency Department staff that viewers love and trust.  With the respect and love for NHS personnel having risen to stratospheric levels across the nation, the series will examine the personal cost of being national heroes at a time of crisis.
Picture
Picture
It has been Casualty's proud tradition over its 35 year history to reflect the difficult realities of the NHS and that has never been more relevant than the present time.  The CoronaVirus Pandemic has put the NHS and the nation under pressure like never before and Casualty returns with an episode which builds on that heritage and reveals the full extent of the impact that the virus has had on Emergency Departments.
Picture
Picture
Clinical Lead Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing) finds that her personal leadership qualities are pushed to their very limit when several of her team fall ill with the virus in the line of duty.  Can she rally the troops as they watch the news coming in from Italy of mass casualties and overwhelmed medical facilities?  Can she keep her personal feelings in check when her lover Jacob Masters (Charles Venn) himself falls ill with the virus?  With the support of Charlie Fairhead (Derek Thompson), himself devastated by the impact of the CoronaVirus on local care homes, Connie reflects on her leadership in these most challenging of times and together they face their most gut wrenching decision ever.

The CoronaVirus Pandemic and its aftermath puts pressure on all of the staff, many of them facing significant personal challenges.  Paramedic Lev Malinovsky (Uriel Emil) has decided to move out of the family home during the lockdown to protect his vulnerable young son recovering from cancer.  Without her husband at home, how does Faith Cadogan (Kirsty Mitchell) come to terms with Dylan Keogh's (William Beck) accusation that Lev had an illicit affair?  And after 16 successful years of marriage, it can’t possibly be true, can it?

Paramedic Fenisha Khatri (Olivia D’Lima) has so far managed to keep her pregnancy a secret from Ethan Hardy (George Rainsford), the child's father, and Jan Jenning (Di Botcher), her boss.  Can she continue to do so during a pandemic?

What will social distancing do to Connie and Jacob’s newly reignited passion?  Can their fledgling relationship survive these high pressure circumstances?
Kate Oates, Head of Continuing Drama at BBC Studios, says:

"We are thrilled to be back in production with BBC's longest running medical show.  The writers, Casualty teams, cast and crew are back on set with stories that reflect the extraordinary times we are living through.  We can’t wait for the audience to see them and to be back in the Saturday night schedule."
Picture
The Casualty production team have developed comprehensive production protocols to ensure that the series is produced in a safe and responsible manner.  Social distancing will be adhered to in accordance to current government guidelines and the high standards that audiences expect will be achieved through inventive techniques and careful planning.  The series will return to screens at a later date at the slightly shorter duration of 40 minutes.

Casualty is a BBC Studios/BBC Cymru Wales production for BBC One.

CASUALTY CONFIRMS DEPRESSION STORYLINE FOR CHARLIE FAIRHEAD | CASUALTY AT ANDY GIBSON TV

25/4/2020

Picture
Charlie Fairhead (Derek Thompson) resurfaced in tonight's episode of Casualty (Saturday 25 April 2020) and it's safe to say he is a bit worse for wear.

Since abruptly quitting his life-long job in Holby City's Emergency Department following the death of his wife, Lisa 'Duffy' Fairhead, Charlie has not been seen.

Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing) and Jacob Masters (Charles Venn) were first outside to meet Charlie from the Ambulance after being rescued by Fenisha Khatri (Olivia D'Lima) and Lev Malinovsky (Uriel Emil).

It was immediately obvious to viewers Charlie is on a downward spiral.

Throughout the episode, Connie was seen at Charlie's bedside and she pleaded with her staff to keep Charlie's incident quiet to not damage the Emergency Department's reputation and to maintain Charlie Fairhead's respect within the Holby City medical facility.

All Charlie wants is Lisa and that is figuratively crushing his morale.

During Charlie's admission, Connie asked him about being at home and it wasn't long before it was alluded to that Charlie has been avoiding his house at all costs.

It was soon revealed that Charlie has developed depression.

Can Charlie Fairhead come back from the brink and be the face of Holby City again?

Casualty continues on BBC One.

FENISHA'S PREGNANCY REVEALED | CASUALTY AT ANDY GIBSON TV

25/4/2020

Picture
Fenisha has been fairly happy-go-lucky since her arrival in Holby City's medical facility.

Not to call Fenisha anything derogatory, she has in fact slept with both Dr. Ethan Hardy (George Rainsford) and Dr. William "Will" Noble (Jack Nolan) in recent weeks.
Picture
In tonight's Casualty (Saturday 25 April 2020) viewers saw Fenisha ask Jan Jenning (Di Botcher) advice on how to go about requesting holiday leave but her plans were soon cut short.

Three positive pregnancy tests later, it was confirmed Fenisha is in fact pregnant.

Lev Malinovsky (Uriel Emil) and Fenisha went to a house they were called to earlier where they discovered someone in a locked garage.  Lev muscled the door open but it slipped, jammed Fenisha between the mechanics and a wall.  Back in the Holby City medical facility, Will evaluated Fenisha and suspected she might have a dislocated shoulder.  He suggested she go for an x-ray and she refused.  It wasn't long before Fenisha revealed to a stunned Will about her pregnancy.

Will was confused as they always used condoms but Fenisha told him straight that he wasn't the father which only sparks a number of questions for viewers and Fenisha alike.

Casualty continues on BBC One.
