"Over time Belle obviously realised how awful Jamie can be, he did some awful things like not confessing about knocking down Moria, sacking Sam, paying Nate off - just for starters! So with Nate's help Belle hatched a plan to get more information so she could ultimately go to the police and get him sent down for everything he’s done."
"Yeah I really enjoyed the fact we preserved this twist. I think so often things obviously get leaked so when it's a twist you don't know about as a viewer it's a real shock."
"I think I was told it was coming up during lockdown actually, I got a call to say 'what you’re reading is Belle faking and not Belle turning against the Dingles!' Initially I was a little panicked that I was going against my family but it was all the twist."
ETD: "I think it was really hard for her yes, in fact I can't imagine being in that position. Even though she hated Jamie and knew he deserved to pay for what he had done I do think feelings for him are still there which makes it even more complicated. When Sam got sacked that was horrible for her and she just hopes the Dingles understand why she did it."
ITV: Do you think Belle struggled when Moira confronted her so blatantly...
ETD: "Oh my gosh yes, she was not expecting that, it took her by surprise and made her put her plan into action a lot quicker which is why it was all a bit slap dash before Cain got to him. Moira really quizzed her and put her on the spot... She did her best to lie but Moira knew and Belle had to act quickly."
ITV: Was it fun to film?
ETD: "Yeah it was so much fun to film! I loved playing a game against the top game player himself!!"
ITV: So... now Belle has had Jamie arrested do you think that's it or is there more to come?
ETD: "100% more to come as it is Jamie Tate afterall. I think Belle would be stupid to think he’d go down easily. He will have something up his sleeve but maybe something she doesn’t expect... I don't want to give anything away but there is so much more to come."
ITV: Belle stopped Cain beating him up - do you think that was the right thing to do or do you think she may come to regret things?
ETD: "I don't think Cain beating him up would’ve helped anything, Jamie would just get him arrested or something in a cunning way. I don’t think Belle will regret going to the police but I think she'll regret starting to play games with him now he knows she was pretending all along... It could come back to haunt her..."
ITV: She said Nate helped her... do you think that might help Cain see him in a better light?
ETD: "I hope so! Belle wants the family to be strong and there for each other and over time Nate has shown himself to be a good person but there’s so much history there, so I think we’ll have to see."
