In July 2019 British Drama suffered a tremendous loss as Freddie Jones passed away at the age of 91.
The nonagenarian spent the latter years of his career as Sandy Thomas in the ITV/STV/UTV soap, Emmerdale.
Sandy Thomas was the father-in-law of current Emmerdale character, Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) and the grandfather of Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham), Arthur Thomas (Alfie Clarke) and Dorothy "Dotty" Thomas (Tilly-Rue Foster/Ellerie Carroll).
The actor who played Sandy, Freddie Jones, was a highly popular member of the Emmerdale workforce.
In 2018, Mark Charnock (who plays Marlon Dingle) described working with him as "wonderful in every conceivable way".
Speaking exclusively to AndyGibsonTV.com, Duncan Foster (drama director), said:
"Freddie was a lovely man. He always felt lucky to still be involved. We all miss him very much." Mr. Jones also appeared in other British dramas such as; The Bill, Z-Cars and Heartbeat.
Viewers took to Twitter expressing their love for Sandy Thomas and Freddie Jones.
In the first of tomorrow's episodes, fans of the Yorkshire soap will see Laurel break the news to her troubled son, Arthur.
Emmerdale continues weekdays at 19:00 on ITV/STV/UTV with an additional episode at 20:00 every Thursday.
