EastEnders is back after a 53-day sabattical following CoronaVirus closing the doors on production at Elstree Studios and tonight's (Monday 07 September 2020) was a great way to welcome viewers back to Walford.
Kirsty Cotton drops a bombshell:
Picture
Placing the famous Queen Victoria Bust on The Queen Vic bar, Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) proudly told Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) that it was a "fresh start" as far as The Beale Family are concerned.

With Kirsty Cotton (Milly Zero) and Ian at court over Kirsty's drug offences, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) is left alone in the pub.  Soon, Sharon spotted The Queen Victoria Bust and everything from the day Dennis Rickman JR. died came flooding back to her.

Back from the court, Ian was being Ian and asking Kirsty for a "thank you" as she wasn't sent into custody.  Kirsty left because she believed Ian would hold something else against her.

In Albert Square Gardens, Speaking to Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell), Bobby tried to comfort Kirsty by telling her she's nothing like Nick Cotton (her father) and that was enough for Kirsty to be exactly like her father.  In the closing moments of the much-anticipated return Kirsty revealed to Sharon that it was Ian who locked Dennis in a room on the boat and subsequently was the reason Dennis died.

Sharon & Ian's happy bubble well and truly popped.
Chantelle Atkins wants a divorce:
Picture
Lockdown at The Atkins has been particularly harsh on a member of the family.  Outside Walford East, Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) waited nervously for David (Tom Joyner) - a lawyer from a rival firm.  When David arrived - albeit late - Chantelle told him she wants to start divorce proceedings against husband Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith).  Viewers will be aware Chantelle has been the victim of Domestic Abuse from Gray and during COVID-19 Lockdown, Chantelle's abuse has got considerably worse.
Picture
With Suki Kaur Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) looking on - unbenown to Mrs. Atkins - Chantelle tells David she "needs the best divorce lawyer I can find".

What will Suki do with this information?

David and Chantelle had a long conversation and things were going really positive for her until he mentioned the potential costs it would be if Gray contested the divorce.

Chantelle wore her heart on her sleeve, bit the bullet and bravely asked Kheerat for a massive loan.  Carry on reading for why this request was made difficult.
Linda and Mick adjust to life out of The Queen Vic:
Picture
Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) & Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) have been running The Queen Vic for a number of years but before selling it to Ian before the episodes ran out.

In the cafe, Linda & Mick discussed where they've been staying - with Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) - and that Mick has been homeschooling their son Oliver Carter (Harry Farr).
Ben's past comes back to haunt him:

Shrimpy (Ben Champniss) was mugged when at his stall by a lowlife who tried to flee the scene but swift work by PC Callum Highway (Tony Clay) who was off-duty at the time managed to catch the robber and place him under arrest.

Sadly, DI Stevie Thompson (Philip Wright) caught up with Halfway later at the Police Station explaining the suspect he brought in is citing "excessive force" and then on his way to a local medical facility for evaluation.  Thompson immediately put Callum on desk duty giving him a load of CCTV footage to watch.

Viewing the CCTV files, Callum became alarmed as he saw what looked like Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) carrying a firearm.
The Panesars are under scrutiny:
Picture
Just like all businesses in United Kingdom, The Panesars were visited by a Trading Standards Officer who made sure they're sticking to Government Guideliness regarding CoronaVirus Pandemic.

Suki & Kherrat weren't too impressed with the intrusion especially since Gray was the one who called Trading Standards on then.
EastEnders continues tomorrow on BBC One.
