LEWISHAM FIRE CLAIMS BOY'S LIFE, POLICE AND FIRE BRIGADE INVESTIGATE | INFORMING BRITAIN

Metropolitan Police are assisting the London Fire Brigade in investigating a fatal fire in Lewisham that claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy.

The incident occurred at a flat on Lewisham Road, SE13, at 23:54 on Wednesday 8 July 2025.

Despite efforts from Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade, and London Ambulance Service, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family is receiving support from specialist officers.

A 54-year-old woman was hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Danian Reid expressed condolences and noted ongoing efforts with the fire brigade to determine the fire's cause, which is not currently deemed suspicious.

​Local officers will remain in the area to support the community during the investigation.

POLICE APPEAL FOR WITNESSES FOLLOWING WILFUL FIRE RAISING | MORAY

Police Scotland are appealing for information following two wilful fire raisings in the Lossiemouth area of Moray.

The first incident, a small grass fire, happened at approximately 20.45 on Sunday, 18 July 2021, in the Inchbroom/Spynie canal area.

The second small grass fire happened around 23:00, also, on Sunday, 18 July 2021, near to Kinneddar House.

Constable Karen Connolly, said:

"Thankfully nobody has been injured as a result of this reckless behaviour.  We are keeping an open mind that the two incidents may be connected and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.  We would appeal to anyone who was in the areas at the times who may have seen anything to get in touch."

Constable Connolly has given a description and said:

"We would also ask anyone who saw two males, possibly on bikes, in the area Kinneddar House area around the time to contact us."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 3537 of Sunday 18 July 2021.
