A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following a blaze at a property in Middlesbrough, where no-one was present. Police and fire crews were called to the address on Percy Street late on Friday 11 October 2025, after reports of a fire breaking out. The suspect was taken into custody for questioning, as authorities work to establish the cause and any potential motives behind the incident.

Humberside Police are appealing for witnesses, and information, after £30,000 worth of damage was caused to a farmer's stock when a large haystack was set alight on Carr Lane in Broughton, North Lincolnshire.
Officers received a call at 20:30 on Tuesday 30 August 2022 after the Fire Service attended to a large fire between Brigg and Broughton. Detective Constable Scott McCreight is investigating the incident. DC McCreight, said: "This was a very large fire which was spreading at an alarming rate following the recent extensive dry weather we have had. £30,000 worth of damage was caused and we believe this fire to have been started deliberately." DC McCreight is appealing for the public's assistance, and added: "I would appeal for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, has dashcam footage or any information that would help with our enquiries. If you can help with our investigation, please call us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 545 of 30 August 2022." Police officers, in Cumbria, are investigating reports of an Arson that occurred between 12:00 and 12:45 on the Friday 23 April 2021, at Snipe Gill, Marton.
Fire and police did attended the scene. Two areas by the road were alight and the fire spread up the hill. There were no injuries on this occasion. It was reported that a dark coloured vehicle was seen driving around the Snipe Gill area at the time of incident. Officers are keen to speak with the driver of that vehicle, who was described as a white male aged in his 70's. Cumbria Police would also like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious.
