The man in question is not reported to have approached anybody but officers were deployed to the area in a bid to locate him.  However, the suspect was no longer present.

It followed a similar report in the same location one week earlier, on Friday 9 April 2021, where a man matching the same description was seen riding a bicycle without wearing any trousers or underwear.

On this occasion, the man briefly spoke to a member of the public before riding away.

An investigation was launched into both incidents and officers have now identified a man they would like to speak to in connection with their enquiries.

Northumbria Police have issued this image from local CCTV in hope the public can help trace him.  Although the picture isn't great, the investigating team think he might just be recognisable to members of the community.
