MURDER INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED FOLLOWING STABBING IN EDGWARE | INFORMING BRITAIN

A murder investigation is under way after a woman died, in Edgware, after being stabbed.

Metropolitan Police were alerted at approximately 11:50 on Thursday 09 May 2024 to reports of a stabbing in Burnt Oak Broadway.

Police Officers were assisted at the scene by medical personnel from London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance.

A woman – whose identity is unknown at this stage – was treated for stab injuries.

Despite the best efforts of all the Emergency Services, she died at the scene.

Enquiries are ongoing to identity and inform her next of kin.

A Crime Scene is currently in place at the location.

There have been no arrests at this early stage and enquiries into the circumstances continue.

Superintendent Tony Bellis, from the North West Command Unit, responsible for policing in Edgware, said:

"I understand the shock and concern this very sad incident will cause.  I want to reassure people it will be investigated by a specialist team of experienced homicide detectives, and we will support them in their work to identify and arrest whoever is responsible."

Superintendent Bellis, continues:


"Local residents will see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days, I would ask the community is patient while officers carry out this vital work.  If you have any concerns, please speak to an officer or your local policing team."

Anyone with information that could assist Detectives with this investigation is asked to contact Edgware Police on 101 and quote Reference Number: CAD3105/9MAY.
