Avon & Somerset Police are, today, issuing a Convenience Store's CCTV image of a potential witness investigating officers would like to trace as part of their ongoing investigation into the death of 19-year-old Bristolian, Eddie King Muthemba Kinuthia.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Almond is leading the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) enquiry.

DCI Almond, said:

"We have a dedicated team who are working incredibly hard to identify and speak to anyone who was in the busy Grosvenor Road area of St Paul's on the night Eddie was attacked, Friday 21 July 2023.  If you were there – even if you don't think you can tell us anything new – please come forward and speak to us.  We really need to speak to everyone who was there, to make those checks to ensure we don't miss any information which could help to get justice for Eddie."

DCI Almond, concludes:

"I know that it’s hard for people to talk about what happened to Eddie, but our team of investigators can access help and support for people who have witnessed such awful incidents, alongside our victim and witness care teams."

Avon & Somerset Police are keen to speak with anybody including someone seen in CCTV footage and officers have released an image of the gentleman in hope he comes forward or if anybody who knows him can provide investigators details on where they can find him.

Avon & Somerset Police are only treating this person as an important witness and is not believed to be the suspect in Mr. Kinuthia's murder.

One potential witness officers are keen to trace.

He is described as in his forties, about 5 foot 8 inches tall and white, with dark hair and a distinctive hairline.

He is wearing grey or blue jogging bottoms and grey trainers with a lighter sole.

He is also wearing a distinctive lighter-coloured T-shirt with a striking logo which is being described by an Avon & Somerset Police spokesperson as a circle of orange or red lettering containing a blue and orange/red peak shape and a small blue circle.

Avon & Somerset Police would like him – or anyone who knows him – to get in touch with MCIT investigators by calling 01278 647777, or by ringing 101 quoting Operation Barclay.

The independent charity CrimeStoppers have, generously, offered a reward of up to £20,000 for information given through their anonymous reporting system which leads to a conviction.

CrimeStoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111 where anonymity will be maintained throughout.
